Congratulations, to the FIVE LUCKY WINNERS of EnviroShop's Future Switch Competition

Media Release

17th October, 2011

Congratulations – each of these five lucky winners will receive a Future Switch Starter Pack, valued at $40. EnviroShop wishes to thank everyone who entered the competition which asked the Frankston community to send in their best sustainability tips. So here are the 5 lucky winners and their great tips.

1. Fiona Rogers, Mount Martha

TIP: Put a smaller plastic tub in the kitchen sink will ensure you use less water to wash dishes. It would be great to see attractive tubs for sale in your stores!
EnviroShop: This is a great idea Fiona. We actually already have a brilliant product called the Hughie Sink which serves this purpose exactly! View it here on our EnviroShop website

2. Sam Harbert, Seaford

TIP: After dinner turn off all the lights in the house and light candles in the lounge whilst watching TV. It gives the room a nice atmosphere and saves power – every night!
EnviroShop: Good call! We would also suggest making sure that the candles are natural beeswax or soy candles as they don't fill your house with harmful vapours and aren't sourced from oil! The natural candles smell great too! Check out some options here on the EnviroShop website

3. Brendan Burrowes, Langwarrin

TIP: Turn appliances off at the power when not in use and fix any leaking taps.
EnviroShop: There are a range of devices that make reducing standby power usage easy and it will save up to 20% on your electricity bills. Check them out here www.enviroshop.com.au

4. Sabine Willert-Dettmer, Seaford

TIP: Shade outside air conditioning units by trees or other means and purchase appliances and office equipment with an Energy Star Label; old refrigerators, for example, use up to 50 more electricity than newer models. See http://energystar.gov.au

5. Michelle Cleland, Carrum Downs

TIP: Close blinds in the house in the morning on the East side of the house and then close blinds on the West side of the house in the afternoon = a cool house in summer! This means no air-conditioning as the blinds block the light/heat coming in the windows which heats up the house!
