Solar Power has never been more affordable! With the new Victorian Government Feed-in Tariff, owners of Solar Power systems will now be paid even more for the electricity they export to the grid.

Previously, if you produced excess electricity, you would be given credit at the rate of 1 to 1 (approx 17c per kWh). With the new Feed-in Tariff, you will recieve credit of 60c per kWh when you produce excess electricity. You still produce the same amount of power, but you get paid more for it!

If you produce excess electricity over a 3 month period, your credit will go towards paying your service charges and line rental etc. Even with a relatively small system, you are likely to be in credit over the summer months, in which case you can request a refund cheque.

One important factor is the fact that this is a NET Feed-in Tariff. This means you only get the full benefit when you produce EXCESS electricity. Make sure you switch off all unnecessary appliances in your home during the day, and you will reduce you electricity bills by as much as 60%.

This scheme has now been passed into law, and has been in effect since November 1, 2009. The Feed-in Tariff will be mandated for a period of 15 years, which provides you with security on your Solar Power investment.
